ABOUT
Dr. Deborah Bernardo is an expert sleep and brain health specialist in the Philippines, treating not just individual patients for both NEUROLOGIC and SLEEP DISORDERS (Insomnia, Sleep apnea, etc.) but also a professional speaker advocating for greater public awareness of the vital role of sleep for good health and smart brains.
She believes that sleep disorders should not be endured and that every Juana and every Juan deserves effective Sleep health care, which should be readily available and accessible to all.

Speaker at the Feast Conference, SMX Mall of Asia, 2024
The journey of Dr. Debby to becoming a Sleep Specialist started when she realized that her busy hospital practice "saving neurons" (St. Luke's Medical Center's TOP DOCTOR in 2006) while raising two teenagers, might eventually damage "her own brain cells." She thus went to National Jewish Health in Colorado, USA, for a fellowship in Sleep Medicine. On her return, she became the Head of the Comprehensive Sleep Disorders Center and the Section of Neurology of the Institute for Neurosciences for six years.
Looking back, she claims that her decision to go into Sleep Medicine was the best she has made in her medical career. She continues to help patients by caring for their bodies and brains through better sleep. "As I feared in 2006, there is even more evidence now supporting the important role of sleep not just for today's physical and mental health but also for the prevention of future brain diseases", she says.
She is a Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians, the Philippine Neurological Association, and the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine. She also keeps abreast by maintaining membership in the American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, where she is the lone Filipino member. She actively practices her specialties and heads training programs in major medical centers in Quezon City, the largest city in the Philippines.
To further hone her leadership skills, she studied Management Development Program for Healthcare Leaders at the Asian Institute for Management, MBA Essentials from The London School of Economics and Political Science, and Occupational Health and Safety at the UP College of Public Health.
On her happy patients' prodding, she decided to bring the “Better Sleep, Healthier Body & Mind” gospel beyond the walls of her clinic, thus this website.
